Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), founded in 1997, is the largest third-party certifier of

businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country.

WBENC is thriving because of the strong commitment of our Corporate and Government Members, Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs), Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs), our Alliance relationships, and the leadership provided by our WBENC staff.

WBENC fosters diversity in the world of commerce. Diversity promotes innovation, opens new channels of revenue and creates partnerships which provide opportunities that fuel the economy.

Capital Development Board (CDB)

The CDB works to assist contractors and architect/engineers to comply with the latest building requirements and standards

through knowledge on the latest consumer alerts and state/building codes and standards. Lunch and learn sessions are held to help professionals learn of new products on the market. In addition, periodic training sessions are held to offer contractors and architect/engineers hands on knowledge of CDB documents and procedures.

American Foundry Society - Chicago Chapter

The Chicago Chapter of the American Foundry Society strives to promote ongoing educational support for their members through regular Chapter Events and special meetings.

American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)

Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization devoted to achieving and maintaining the highest professional

standards for its members. More than half of 10,000 members are certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), and many hold other professional designations. AIHA administers comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals current in the field of industrial hygiene.

AIHA is one of the largest international associations serving OEHS professionals practicing industrial hygiene and is a resource for those in large corporations, small businesses and who work independently as consultants.

The American Society for Health Care Engineering of the American Hospital Association (ASHE)

With more than 12,500 members, ASHE is the largest association devoted to professionals who design, build, maintain, and operate hospitals and other health care facilities. ASHE members include health care facility managers, engineers, architects, designers, constructors, infection control specialists, and others. While our membership is diverse, ASHE members share a dedication to optimizing health care facilities and creating and maintaining safe healing environments. ASHE, a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association, is a trusted industry resource that provides education, regulatory guidance, networking, advocacy representation, and professional development for our members. ASHE is committed to our members, the facilities they build and maintain, and the patients they serve.

American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Three Rivers

ASSP is a global association for occupational safety and health professionals. For more than 100 years, we have provided education, standards development, advocacy and a professional community to support the advancement of our members and the profession as a whole. Our members are dedicated to creating safe work environments by preventing workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses. Sound safety practices are both socially responsible and good business, leading to increased productivity, a better reputation and higher employee satisfaction.

National Safety Council

The nation's leading safety advocate for more than 100 years, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization with the

mission to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. Working to make the world measurably safer, NSC advances this mission by engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to help prevent the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. – unintentional injuries.

The Council is data driven, relying on research to inform best practice solutions to safety issues. To make the greatest impact, NSC focuses on where the most preventable injuries and deaths occur - cell phone use while driving, teen driving, workplace safety, prescription painkiller use and safety in the community. As a catalyst for behavior change, NSC promotes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month and June as National Safety Month.

Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) began in 1969 as a peer certification board. It is not a member organ-

ization and does not provide services usually offered by member organizations. Membership in any organization is not a requirement for certification.

Its sole purpose is to certify practitioners in the safety profession. Safety professionals identify hazards and evaluate them for the potential to cause injury or illness to people or harm of property and the environment. The safety professional recommends administrative and engineering controls that eliminate or minimize the risk and danger posed by hazards. They work with professionals in other disciplines in many different job settings. They work for companies, government agencies and private organizations or offer individual professional services. They may engage in design, planning, program management, training, audit and other aspects of practice. Additionally, they apply hazard recognition, evaluation and control knowledge and skills for equipment, systems, facilities and processes, or in operations, manufacturing, transportation, construction, insurance services and other enterprises.

Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM)

For over thirty years the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1984,

has been protecting the environment and the public’s health, safety, and security through the administration of credentials recognizing professionals who have demonstrated a high level of knowledge, expertise, and excellence in the management of hazardous materials.

Over 16,000 homeland security, environmental protection, engineering, health sciences, transportation, and public safety professionals have earned IHMM’s accredited Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) credential. IHMM also administers the Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP) and the Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP) credentials.

The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management is committed to impartiality and objectivity in every aspect of our operation. IHMM implements its policies and procedures in a fair manner among all applicants, candidates and certified individuals. IHMM’s processes and procedures are governing by its Bylaws and Management Systems Manual. We welcome any suggestion on how we can improve our implementation of certification activities.

Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA)

The Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) is the most recognized organization in the country dedicated to the professional development of industrial refrigeration operators and technicians.

Our mission is to educate and to that end we provide current and up-to-date information in our publications, the Breeze, Tech Report and Pipeline, on all aspects of our industry. Additionally, we have a library of instructional materials available as teaching aids, used not only by individual members, but also by colleges across the country.

Our certification program is the only ANSI accredited program of its kind in the country. Through our efforts, we ensure that operators and technicians are equipped with the knowledge to safely run their equipment.

Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA)

Established in 1995, the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) is dedicated to bringing practitioners together to prevent and solve indoor environmental problems for the benefit of consumers and the public.

IAQA’s membership is comprised of individuals and companies, including: contractors, consultants, facility maintenance professionals, researchers, industry vendors, school officials, and representatives from state and federal government agencies.

Association of Licensed Architects (ALA)

The Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) is an organization open to all architects and professions related to architecture. It represents architects registered or licensed in any state, territory or possession of the United States or foreign country.

The Association of Licensed Architects - Illinois Chapter was formed in 2005. Our chapter serves over 800 professional, affiliate and student members throughout the state.

ALA - Illinois provides our members with high-quality continuing education programs. Monthly seminar topics range from current building trends and techniques to business strategies to tours of buildings with architectural interest. All programming is approved for state required continuing education requirements with most offering health, safety and welfare (HSW) credit.

Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification

The Mission of the IICRC is to establish and advance globally recognized standards and certifications for the inspection, cleaning, restoration and installation industries.

The IICRC, with industry-wide participation, certifies and develops certifications and standards for inspection, cleaning and restoration. The IICRC also serves as valuable consumer referral source for certified technicians and firms. There are currently more than 53,000 active certified technicians, many with multiple certifications, and more than 6,000 Certified Firms around the world.
